In our last post we touched on drapery hardware, but we will take a more in depth look in this blog posting. There are a multitude of options for drapery hardware but going custom is a must. It will provide the best fit to your openings, design style, and heading of your draperies. 'Off the shelf’ drapery hardware telescope to fit your window and can become bowed by the weight of the drapes. They are also less secure at the point of attachment with the wall. Because of the telescoping rod, the rings catch on the overlapping area and make closing and opening difficult. We can select from several suppliers and manufactures of hardware. There are many styles and finishes available that range from very elaborate/fancy designs to the most simple/ultra-modern.
Our extensive knowledge and experience with hardware enables us to recommend the best options while taking in consideration the preferred style, budget, and design requirements. In some cases the style of drapery will determine the corresponding hardware. Ripplefold style drapery, along with cubicle curtains, use slides that fit into a track like system. They can be mounted on the wall or ceiling on standard track or decorative hardware. Track like systems are very functional and now can be decorative too.
Pleated draperies use rings that sit below the rod so the hardware is more prominent. There are many different diameters, shapes, and finishes to choose from; it is just a matter of which one will work best for the situation. With grommet top draperies there are different sizes of grommets and finishes. Keep in mind the proportion to the diameter of the rod and how often you are going to draw the drapereies. When going a wide span one must consider that sometimes the grommets can be difficult to draw back and forth.
Don't forget motorized hardware is a great solution for custom draperies. Being able to sit in bed and push a button to open your drapes or enter a room and adjust the window covering at a touch. You can have light and heat demands programmed so wheather you are home or not they adjust. In high/hard to reach areas they are easily accessed and make automated draperies the way to go.
Throughout the process we can help guide and give suggestions to make sure that you are getting the right style and function for your home.
